There are many different causes of migraines from stress, which is common to even food allergies to even more serious conditions. So I would suggest seeing you doc about migraines especially if you've never had a migraines before and they've just now started, create a journal documenting the foods your are eating (incase these migraines are do to a food allergies) especially if your diet as changed lately and also make any notes if any other changes have occured in your life (ie a promotion, new relationship). Also note the date, time and length of each migraine. Than take this list to your doctor and together you can figure out the cause. If it is a food allergy, usually just by stop eating the food causes the migraines to stop. If no cause appears to jump out at you or the doctor you might be prescribed a drug like imatrex for the pain.

A migraine headache is a tension headache that has gotten out of control. Additionally, some headaches are triggered by certain foods like chocolate and onions, etc. Once a migraine takes hold, it can be very painful. It can cause every part of your face and head to hurt. Everything from burning sensations, to seeing spots of light in front of your eyes, nausea, etc. are common.
Bed rest, in a dark, quiet room is the best bet, and when you feel a migraine coming on, do not wait to take medicine.
There are some good migraine medicines out there, Benadryl tablets for allergy work well , Excedrin for Migraine or Excedrin for Tension headache work extremely well. Placing a cool, damp cloth across the forehead and eyes also helps.
You should really see your doctor if your migraines are frequent and quite severe. Some people have found that a very low dosage of a mild anti depressant helps stop migraines, or lessens their severity and length greatly. Good luck.

MIgraines are triggered by lots of different things for different people. No one knows why these are triggers, but in a migraine, the blood vessels in the brain first constrict, then dilate. This causes pain, pounding, and side effects like blurry vision, nausea, and one-sided numbness. See the article below for examples of what can trigger migraines.

Muscles get knots called trigger points. These make the muscles tight causing them to press on nerves and other thing.
Pain can be referred from places other than the head.
#1 The first thing is to take a couple swigs of molasses or eat a couple of bananas. They contain magnisium and potassium both of which muscles need.
#2 WATER she should be drinking 1/2 gallon minimum. The head of neurology at UCDavis likens a body running low on water to a car running low on oil (the engine can seize).
Get a good (deep tissue) massage (to loosen the trigger points) on the back, shoulders and neck. Make sure to press up at the base of the skull where it meets the spine.
You rub or lightly scratch everywhere on your head. You will hit spots that are tender these are trigger points. The idea is to rub across them 6-12 times per session up to six times per day until they go away.
For more information on trigger points read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies.

There is a lady in my office who was getting migraines from drinking too many diet cokes which contain nutrasweet. She cut the number of cokes down and her migraines have almost disappeared. There was a neurosurgeon who wrote a book on the subject several years ago that I recommend you read. It is called "Exitotoxins: The taste that kills" by Russel Blaylock
