It seems like the "in" thing to do and I want to be with the "in" crowd? Also, should I do something really rotten before I go in (ie, beat my kids, sleep around on my wife) ?

Thanks for all of you who get the sarcastic nature of my question......

Make sure that you pick a really posh rehab. One with turn down service and chocolate on the pillow. Massages should be mandatory prior to your meals.
Don't fall into that crowd of believers 'No Pain- No Gain'. They are just a bunch of masochists. Your suffering and enlightenment should come from being pampered like you never have been before.
Surely you can think of some past action or perversion that you should atone for

You say it seems like the "in" thing to do. So are you a sheep, just blindly following? Or a lemming that swarms with other lemmings and jumps off a cliff? If the "in crowd" thinks it's all right to shove screwdrivers up their nose, you'd do it, right, because you want to be "in" with the "in crowd."! Are you a clone?
Look, I really don't like to be judgmental. I rarely am, and I'm not really, now. First, you ask if you should go to rehab. If you're addicted to something that's destroying you and those who love you (you might not think people love you, but they do), then you've answered your own question, haven't you?
Go to rehab.
Whatever you're "on" it's almost impossible to get off whatever it is, without rehab. My heart goes out to you because you seem so lost and insecure. If the "in crowd" want to go to Rehab. then they are on a winning track, and they are brave. So go with them, but make sure you are going to save yourself from destroying yourself and others and not just as a "follower".
Are you serious about the second part of your question? Beat your kids, cheat on your wife? What do you want anyone to say? "Go ahead, be an animal, lose what shred of self-respect, humanity and decency you have left?" Beat your kids? That'll get you jail time, not rehab. Prisoners don't look kindly on child beaters, so you can look forward to being gang-raped while you're in jail. But more than that, don't you love your children? Do you want them to be emotionally scarred for life? Do you want them to hate their Daddy? What kind of mess is your head in for you to even contemplate such things?
It's not too late to straighten yourself out into someone with decency, humanity and someone who follows their own judgment because inside, you know what's right, don't you?
You do.
So do the right thing, for the right and decent reasons, and your life will change in the most amazing, sweetest way possible.
Good luck:-)

don't pay your taxes, embezzle from your employer, break into a house or two. After that go to rehab and all will be forgiven.
