What does it taste like? I heard some people say it is good but others said it made them want to throw up. How about you?

SUSHI ROX!!!

It has a variety of flavors:Octopus is chewy...Eel is soft and tender, while having the sauce that most restaurants put on makes it even better...California roll (if your not into the whole fish idea) is fake crap, avocado, and some other vegetable. I will however advise you not to get the raw Shrimp, it is a very odd taste.

I love it!! But it all depends on what you eat. Remember, the word sushi actually means "seasoned rice", so it doesn't necessarily mean it's raw. Sashimi is raw fish as well as Nigiri, which most of the time involves a piece of fish over a ball of rice. My opinion only, but stay away from the california roll. Not really good. Instead, opt for a Spider Roll (fried soft shell crab) or maybe a Shrimp Tempura roll (Fried Shrimp). Start there and as you get more adventurous, start trying other things. It all depends on what you order and the place you order it from. I wouldn't recommend buying it from the grocery store or even eating it at the Chinese Buffet.

I really like sushi. When I first heard of it, I didn't want to try it, but I did and I am glad I did. Just make sure to tell the sushi person that you're new. They are used to new people and will walk you through, and make good suggestions!

Good luck!

It's good. You just have to try some different kinds, and figure out which ones you like. California rolls are really good, and many of them include cooked ingredients, not raw. I would go to a good sushi restaurant, and just tell them that you've never had it before. Ask them to recommend a variety of kinds for a first-timer to try.

I like mine dipped in a little soy sauce. If you use wasabi (the green stuff), make sure you just take a tiny bit. It's really spicy!

love it! the first time i tried it i didnt even know it was raw fish and by the time i found out i was hooked. who cares what it is if it tastes good? i get these HUGE cravings for it sometimes. my favorite are the dragon rolls and california rolls

most people thought tend to assume that sushi HAS to be raw fish, when in reality there are types of rolls that do not contain any fish whatsoever

I love sushi and it can have a variety of tastes, depending on what ingredients are in it. Usually it's a mild flavor. Start off with something easy like California rolls.

Actually there are types of veggie sushi that are pretty good. My 10 year old son eats it when ever I can get it. I have eaten the slivered fish sushi and it reallly had not much of a flavor in itself.

I am a sushi hater! There is something about eating raw fish that makes me want to throw up. And it just plain tastes bad.

It is terrific....I probably will make you ill, but...I prefer raw salmon to cooked.
My favorite sushi / Sashimi (by the way sushi means sweet rice, it is the sashimi - raw fish-that I think you are referring to) is salmon and tuna. But you have to get it very fresh from a very reliable fish monger....whole foods is where I go. Make a sauce of soy and rice wine vinegar, some pickled ginger on the side and some wasabi....It doesn't get any better than that.................

I LOVE sushi. Its like my favorite food ever, but if you don't like fish, especially raw fish, then you wouldn't like it. It has kind of a salty, fishy taste, and is pretty chewy because of the seaweed.
