I had both my ACL's replaced. It's a tough recovery but my knees are better than ever. Much stronger and I don't have to hold the railing when I walk down stairs. Research your doctor. You definitely want a well repuited person to perforn the surgery. You can walk a few days after on crutches. You must do lots of exercizes. You go to PT for almost a year. Full recovery in about a year.

It can be replaced with a knee replacement surgery. DOn't worry - the ACL is the easiest ligament to replace in your knee and the most common.

I have a deteriorating Patellar Tendon (the one in the front). That's MUCH harder to replace than an ACL

I am sure you have and ACL or you wouldn't be able to bend your knee. However it may need to be reconstructed. My best advice is to get atleast one other opinon before having anymore surgery.
