RECRUITERS:Just joined the Navy, I swore in at MEPS a week ago, signed my contract. Can i be discharged?
I had a misdemeanor charge from 1997-1998,but thought It was cleared, now my recruiter said he got a call from MEPS, stating that it was not cleared up completely, that I still had some community service hours, I had to complete. My recruiters are trying to see what they can do. Could I be discharched from joining the Navy, now? ....................... (original charge:Theft Under $300)

Have you done any of the things people told you to do the first 10 times you posted this question?

For God's sake, show some initiative. Call the DA and ask what you need to do to clear it up. Tell him you're going into the service and need it fixed.

I'm telling you, if you have a criminal or civil case pending against you then it has to be cleared up before you go on active duty. It doesn't matter how "bad" they need you. If it didn't matter they wouldn't do the check, now would they?

Most likely No. The military needs recuirts pretty bad. The only thing is if you did a interview for a security clearance, if your job needs one, if you told the truth there you shouldnt have a problem. You should be good to go.

So, you enlisted under false pretenses. Thats good for about 15 years in Leavenworth prison.

Was your charge disclosed while you were at MEPS? If so, then no they cannot discharge you. Now....if you hid it from them and they found out, well then you're probably done.

you may either be released or the judge may dissolve your community service hours in the best interest of the nation.

Your recruiter should have all the answers you desire. Do not hesitate to ask him or her. I would do this ASAP.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WOULD YOU PLEASE SHUT UP AND STOP ASKING THIS DAMN QUESTION OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN, EVERYONE IS SO SICK AND TIRED OF YOU. THE MILITARY DOESN'T NEED PEOPLE LIKE YOU, MAYBE YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE EVEN SIGNED UP IN THE FIRST PLACE. THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR RUSHING INTO THINGS WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT IT FIRST.
