I did he was awesome. He was a black dude with a Jamaican brother, he was awesome. He was a very Godly Godfather too. one of the most devout christians i ever saw.
But yes a baptist can have a godfather, im baptist.
I love my godfather!
And theyre supposed to be able to take care of the child if something happened to the parent.
When my dad died, my grandma took me in. she was very devout as well. but if she didnt id be living with him.
God Bless You!

Yes. A godparent is named by the parents and is responsible for the religious education/upbringing of the child in case something happens to the parents.
A godparent is usually a very close friend who holds closely similar views to those of the parents.

Roman Catholics, and some Protestant denominations, particularly those that baptise babies, have god-parents. However I have known at least one Baptist family to name godparents for their child. it is a matter of choice, I guess. I think of it more as a cultural thing.

Baptists do not believe in infant baptism so there is no ceremony to install godparents. It is more of a legal issue than a church issue for protestants.

I don't know how it works in the churches- but I think that if you want to appoint a god-parent to your child then go for it.
