I'd save the band until you're 16 or 18 - that would be big. You don't want to spend thousands on a band when you're only 13.
Food - Definitely. Try munchies: chips, fruit, cookies etc.
Boys - Yep! Can't have a 13th without a few boys at the party.
Kissing - Whoa! You're only 13! Save the first kiss and do it with someone special - not some guy at your party that you hardly know.

Edit: Don't forget some good music! Don't have it too loud (might anger the neighbors) but have something new, something everyone in your class would like. Even go around to the people you are inviting and ask them what music they like.

Party bags are all the rage, make sure you put rad stuff in there to help them remeber the awesome b-day bash! Bands, more like R-n-B or a band to remeber hope you have that kind of money!

I'd save the band (and the "BIG") for the Sweet 16. A regular old house party with food, boys and Spin-the-bottle would rock! Or... rent a place and rock on! 13 was my favorite age.... Ah, I miss those days!

I threw my daughter a pool party for her 13th birthday. I rented a couple of adjoining rooms at the local hotel, she invited about 20 friends. 8 of which stayed at the hotel. There was food, music and scary movies. (that's what she wanted)
