Following the Ten Commandments should help your case considerably if you do not already. You should have them memorized, but if not, they are, though not in the correct order or phraseology:
1. Have only one God and no other.
2. Do not speak the Lord's name in vain.
3. Do not worship engraven images.
4. Do not covet anything someone else has.
5. Do not lie.
6. Do not kill.
7. Do not commit adultery.
8. Do not steal.
9. Honor your mother and father.
10. Keep the Sabbath Day holy, generally thought to be Sunday.

Pray out loud even though God knows the thoughts and intents of the heart you really need to pray out loud.
Lets first start with confessing to him that you are a sinner in need of salvation.
Now lets Confess that Jesus is Lord and that God raised he from the dead.
Believe this with all of you heart and then you are saved.
Once you do this salvation is a day to day walk with God he will remove things out of you life as you let him remove them.
He will give you peace where there was once fear.
God loves you very much sir Pray out loud with a loud voice do not be ashamed of him.

The best way to find god is to feel him. Look deep within yourself and search for a time when you felt whole, felt at peace, felt happy. Actively seek out and recreate these feelings. Recognize that unless you feel most whole when you are in a church, god probably will not be found there. Find god in the people and things that you love deeply. And recognize that it will take immense courage to go to the place within yourself to find god. You can certainly do it. Find the courage to try!

I am nearly 75 and at the age of 33 tried suicide but luckily failed. I would say the shortest and quickest route to Evidence of God is to go to the nearest hospital, to the maternity ward and ask to view the newborns (if you don't have one in your own home). While watching them reflect (if you are Christian) on Christ's saying of children, "Of such is the kingdom of God!".
God's peace and love!

do not impose some personal agenda or value system on yourself
follow your innerself's lead to whatever emerges
judge no one and be attentive to both 'good' and 'bad' people
it should not matter whether a person is telling the truth or lying
be open and attentive
this is much more effective than being judgmental
people/you naturally tend to be good and truthful when they are being received in a good and truthful manner
perhaps you feel naive and childlike in this uncritical openness to whatever emerges
openness is simply more potent than any system of judgments ever devised
(what is the shortes route to God?
BE OPEN AND ATTENTIVE TO WHATEVER EMERGES)
discover a Master~Jesus Christ

You should pray, and definitely read the Lord's Book. In it, you'll find answers to questions you never knew you had. Also, try experimenting with different religions - study, compare, and contrast them. Maybe you'll find more than you're looking for, and you'll gain more knowledge about the demons you may be fighting.

I too love the God we seek. He is hiding. Beware strenght makes you angry. Tend to forget the past. My love for God and love for you and your love for God will bring you peace because together we are three and God listens always and never tires of us His children. Thank you for your love. You have chosen the better.

"I pray inside myself and wait for an answer."
To find God one must first seek God. Your answers will not simply come to you like majic. God helps thoes who help themselves.
Find God and you shall find your answers.

Try 'thanking God' for 'listening to you' for all of His help over the years. God does 'listen to us' all the time, even when we aren't 'actively praying' so I think he already 'knows' how 'thankful' you are ... but sometimes we are so 'foolish' that we simply forget to 'pray' our 'thanks' to Him ... and I think that's the 'shortest way to God' you've got.
