you can try separating them...............for a day or two............
you need to take your time............if you rush it their probably wont be anytime to go back and you might find the situation to be helpless.

start off by putting them in separate rooms but where they can communicate through the crack under the door. but where they dont have direct physical contact.

then every once in a while(every few hours) slowly open the door (about an inch) and let them smell each other ..............

and just go from there.............

like another poster said it will be up t your cat on what kind of relationship they have.

hope ive helped you........
good luck!!!!!!!

Put the dog into a crate so the cat can smell and look at the dog without getting chased. You can also put a gate across a bedroom or some room so the cat can get away from the dog if it wants to. Ultimately the cat decides the relationship between the two of them.

Based upon your use of the word, 'cat', it's not a helpless kitten. Just see how the two of them will react in each other's presence. Watch the two of them like a hawk. If the dog tries to attack the cat, get between them fast and separate them. There's no written guidelines for this kind of introduction other than using common sense. Watch the two of them like a hawk and baby sit them. If you can't watch them every second until they get used to each other, then keep them separated until you can.
