it only hurts when it gets touched, otherwise I dont feel anything. When touched, it feels like a bruise, do you know what it could be? I've had it for sometime now. Advice/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
A!

Hi, thanks but I am not diagnosing, I do plan on visiting the doctor but would just like to have some possible suggestions of what it may be. My question aims at people who have experienced it or knows the symptoms!

Go see a doctor. You can't diagnose yourself on the internet.

Edit after more info - it could be a pinched nerve. Do you have pain that shoots down your arm or leg? If not then maybe it's a pulled muscle. Check your mattress (don't laugh) because you could be sleeping in the wrong position.

I get this a lot although it hurts all the time ! I get a hot water bottle thats warm not very hot. Also sit on hard chairs and lie on a hard floor for a while that helps. I avoid soft things because even though they seem nicer to sit on they make the problem worse in long run. This is if its similar to what i have. If its bruising you could try arnica cream which is good for bruises or general numbing cream. Could be bruising of the coccyx, could be a lot of things backs are notoriously bad for randomly hurting.

Well first of all it doesn't sound like anything serious to me.
It sounds like it could be a nerve problem. It is not unusual for our nerves endings to become tender, especially in the back.
Regular exercise, warm baths can as can placing a hot water bottle over the aria, help but if the problem persists then it's best just to pop along to your doctor just as a precaution if anything else and get it checked out. I am sure your doctor will be able to put your mind at rest.
All the best my friend,
Andrew D

If it only hurts when you touch it and not any other time, you may have a burn or some other type of skin condition back there. You may just, as you suspect, have a bruise. I hope you find it's nothing serious.

Low back pain is most likely a result of strain. It may be due to mechanical disorder affecting one or more structures in your back. It may be ligament strain, a muscle tear, damage to a spinal facet joint or prolapse of an intervertebral disc. If your temperature is over 38 degrees many virus infections such as flu may cause backache sometimes quite severely. If your pain is much worse on one small point of your spine you may have bone damage as a result of osteoporis.

Here is a simple remedy until you see your doctor.Massaging the back muscles will reduce the pain.Apply an icepack to the affected area. This will make the area numb and reduce the pain. More details and remedies at http://aches.in/backpainremedies.html

Do you have any marks or rashes in the area? If so, could be shingles. A friend of mine had that in college. She said her back muscles didn't hurt but if she got touch or wore a rough fabric it hurt like hell.

I utilize chiropractors for back pain. They are good at what they do, working with the spine. Most people suffer with low back pain. Learn to work with it. Take good care of your back. Keep your muscles toned, do stretching and back exercises.
