You need to run them under COOL water until they are thawed. If you leave them in the refrigerator, they are no way going to be thawed. This is the quickest, safest way to thaw.

I usually fill the sink or other container with cool tap water and let 'em float upside down (sometimes the foam tray will insulate them, hindering thawing if you float them right side up). They will thaw in 30 min. or less.
Microwaves usually have a defrost on them. Refer to your book if you have one because not all microwaves are the same wattage, etc. I don't really like to use my defrost because it sometimes does cook the edges of the meat, but if I do, I set it for less time and check it frequently to prevent cooking it.

The safest way to defrost something is to leave it in the refrigerator over night. Failing that, next next best bet is to thaw under cold running water (place the meat in a large bowl and turn the water on low so it fills the bowl but is continuously running).

you may be able to do it in the microwave, I hate the rubbery texture when i do. Put them ina ziplock bag and run some cool water in the sink, float them in there and they will thaw. As the other person said, its okay to have them a little frozen in the center still just make sure they reach the proper internal temp.

Check them every minute when you defrost in the microwave, you can still cook them if they are a little bit frosty, doesn't hurt them at all.

If it is not too warm in your kitchen, put flat in a plastic bag tied, onto a plate cover with clean tea towel and leave safe on work top from animals and children. I do this all the time for same day cooking, and I am not Dead yet.
