You can get ear candles at the health food store, It is like a funnel and you light it (have help) and it drips wax in your ear and when you pull it out, the junk in your ear comes out with it.

I am a Respiratory Practitioner,
If your still carrying on with a head cold its gonna be tough due to the drainage it will have for sometime now. By the sounds of it, it is happening on the inside of your head and not the outer ear where most infections take place. A little help maybe to drop 1/2 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide in your ear. You will hear and feel the bubbling which is good due to its killing the bacteria. After about 3 mins turn your head and repeat the other side. I would do this every other day for one week, dont make a habit of it due to the ear carries a certain pH balance and you really don't want to mess that up, it could cause ear infections in the future. Also drink plenty of WATER...mucus absorbs water from the cells and body and when we are low on water intake the mucous is much thicker!! Good luck to you

It's definitely a trip to the doctor's for you, my friend. Messing with your ears can cause further problems and a lot of pain. There are products on the market, such as Otex or Audiclean, but it's worth getting it checked before you embark on the self-help route; it could be an infection.
If your ears are blocked, you'll probably be asked to use olive oil (not the cooking variety) for a week or so before being requested to book to have your ears syringed. That just involves a nurse shooting warm soapy water into your ear to clean it out. It should never be tried at home.
If you're in pain, try putting a hot water bottle on your ear for the evening - that should loosen things.

Mineral oil will disolve the wax inside your ear. Just put it in your ear and then let it sit for a minute, then tilt your head the other way and it'll all come out.

You may have a disease where the skin inside the ear canal doesn't grow sideways, thus allowing the ear wax to eventually work it's way out. See a doctor...

i agree with the go to the doctor advice, and jj,
also, if your ear is plugged with mucus from a cold, in the future, the way to avoid that is to keep your mouth slightly open whenever you blow your nose. this keeps the stuff out of your ears..
good luck
