Oh my God! I have had that same phobia since elementary school. When I went to visit friends, they kept wondering why I disappeared so many times. I was gonig to the gas station, because there was a fan and buffer zones lol. I know completely what your going through. I'm not 100% over it, but I guess I try to make it so no one can hear me, turn on a fan, turn on a radio, find a private place. If there is away to learn to let it rip and not care abit about it. Let me know, because right now I don't think I'll ever feel comfortable about that.

Face your fear is very cliche, but only so becuase it works. Mostly, shy people as a whole have problems with this phobia but you have to remember, the expeltion of stool is just a natural (and major) bodily function and it doesnt matter how loud it is. If some on hears you anyways, what they would prbably think is "what did he eat?" or maybe a slight chuckle in the people who have no integrity. This is nothing, only an imbecile mind would find something such as this funny, and are not worth your effort in trying to "divert" the sound.
Hope this helps

It gets better the older you get cause then you don`t care as much,,your just grateful you can still go and you make the most of it...If your that self conscious run the tap water really hard when you go in cause it will drown out the noise,of put a radio in your bathroom so when the light goes on so will your music I know tons of people who do that and it brightens up the moment...

Well you can do several things, run water from a sink, flush the toilet while you are actually in there to create a deversion, or you can take music in with you like a walkman but people will still hear you with that option but you will not. Keep in mind everyone that goes to the restroom is going for the same purpose and all of us is suppose to be adults, respect works both ways.

I put it this way...'I don't do public pooping.....' I make sure I don't eat enough to go at work. I am more phobic of other's germs than embarrassment. As for tinkling; if I feel like it get's too quiet in work bathroom, I try to relax and take a tissue and cover my nose to help me breathe....yes, I really do. Just breathe slowly and imagine you are sitting there all alone. Think of other things too...anything but where you are.

Yes, its embarrasing but it's nature. Its what we humans have to do! Think of this you can be embarrased and not use the bathroom or pee in your pants wich is even more embarassing. Think of it this way if your in a public bathroom what are the chances youll ever see those people again? You have got to think about all the positive things.

a simple cure would be eat loads of fresh fruit and dates and figs that way the logs would end and it would just dribble out and sound like you are taking a leak, unless you fart at the same time.
