UPDATE: I'm now flying into National (DCA), which is much closer to downtown. Thanks for all the answers!

The 5A express Metrobus. It's $3 each way, runs at least once every hour, and takes you to L'Enfant Plaza Metro, making just a few stops along the way. If your hotel isn't close to there, you're most likely no more than two or three subway stops from it.

Monuments and memorials, modern neighbourhoods, correct local flavour it's this that Washington, DC is; a location unlike every other; exactly like this site hotelbye . The final improvement, in 1958-62, enlarged the main façade where presidents get the oath. On one other area, a marble terrace offers beautiful views within the mall and the city. The inner is resplendent with frescoes, reliefs, and paintings, especially the rotunda under the great cast-iron dome with a roof painting by Constantino Brumidi and large paintings of scenes from American record on the walls.

Bus/Metro - Take a bus right from Dulles Airport to the West Falls Church Metro Station and from there, take a metro to Downtown Washington DC - $12 total each way.

This is the cheapest by far. Shuttle vans cost about $26 and taxi over $ 50.

I agree with Tom T but according to the web site the bus is $8 each way $14 round trip. On the Metro you can get close to just about anywhere you want. Check out the following web site, they even have a Metro map you can print out so you will know which line to take...Good Luck... http://www.airwise.com/airports/us/IAD/IADtran2.html

Get a taxi to the nearest metro into D.C. The taxi driver will be able to tell you where to catch one. They run out of Virginia/Dulles.
