Provided the dog gets adequate exercise he should be fine.
We have a boxer X in a condo with no yard and he is the happiest dog I know. We take him for walks regularly, the dog park and reward him with doggie daycare (playdays) every friday.
Keep in mind dogs sleep a lot, so the time that you're away he'll be sleeping anyway. And if you crate train then he won't care about how much room he has to roam.
I know of many dogs that are very happy in apartments and many that are unhappy with houses and yards...the difference is the owner and how you take care of your dog.
best of luck

I lived in an apt with a neighbor that had an Akita. Since you have owned an Akita before, I am guessing that you know that they are an alert/barking/warning dog. For the two years that the neighbor lived next to me, I listened to that Akita bark NON STOP at everything! The worst part was that their apt faced the parking lot, so every time someone came in or out of the parking lot, the dog would bark to alert it's owner. I would say no to an Akita in an apt, just because of all of the noises, unknown people going to other units, etc, that would trigger that breed of dog to react on its senses.

No, bad idea.Akita's are a large breed dog. You might want to check with your apartments rules to make sure you are allowed a large breed dog. Most apartments will only allow small breed dogs.
Akita's have a tendency to be very aggressive to other dogs and small animals and are capable of ferocity. It is not uncommon for an Akita to catch and kill small (or even large) animals (including cats, guinea pigs, rabbits and small dogs) if it is allowed to wander and should therefore never be allowed to run off its lead around other animals. So imagine what might happen in an apartment hallway.

tremendous Danes can do in simple terms superb in an position of abode, see you later as they obtain the right quantity of excersise and characteristic a probability to enable loose and play in say, a canines park once an afternoon. human beings regularly make the idea that because they look a important breed, they ought to favor alot of room and alot of excercise. incorrect. as a count number of truth, dane domestic dogs must have their excersise heavily monitored, so as no longer to get too a lot...by using growing to be bones and joints. at the same time as some danes are extra lively and playful than others, the majority sleep lots of the day, content textile to have their each day "zoomies", play time with their human beings and a reliable walk/run interior the park. Are they confusing to regulate? They positive will be, if no longer educated correct. This breed needs wide socialization with human beings and different canines, besides as life circumstances from the get pass, to avert concern themes, frightened/aggressive habit with people and different canines. If no longer educated correct, there is not any way you'd be in a position to regulate a canines that length and power. I applaud you on doing all of your study first. this isn't a breed for actually everyone, and because it really is truly your moms and dads who will be finally and legally to blame for this canines, i wish you'll enable them comprehend in simple terms how significant it really is to get your doggy from a respected breeder who wellbeing exams and is in touch interior the breed, no longer only a byb who peddles doggies for funds. reliable success!

I don't think dogs should be put in an apartment especially bigger dogs. Just remember if you do bring two dogs into an apartment, you will be prepared to have to take it outside for up to five times a day for walks.
