Alcoholic, and vodka is always the end result until you start bleeding internally from it. Go to some AA meetings and ask the members about the vodka story. A true alcoholic always has one.

Could be genetic. I'd say you just built a tolerance.
I remmeber 2 years ago , a six pack would have me puking.
Then about a year ago, a 6 pack was a pregame.
I wasn't graduating, but most of my friends were last spring and we drank a lot through that year. By summer most of the rest of my friends were gradutating and a 6 pack was nothing...barely a buzz.
I'd donate plasma then use the money to go to a bar for happy hour and get a margarita (5-6 shots). Normally would then get a 40. If there wasn't a party, then atleast 1 more 40 if it was an early night. This was every night for 2.5 months
Now that most of my friends are gone, i drink less and a 6 pack has me on the floor.

I used to chug-a-lug when I was younger but now I get a buzz quicker. I think it depends on a number of things. Nutrients-stress level- eating habits. I also never have had a hangover. Be careful with the amount of booze though because even if you don't feel it your body does and poisoning can hit fast if you indulge not to mention your liver and kidneys. On a good evening out I usually consume about a micky (375 mls). That's quite a bit for my size I am always surprized I am not wobbling or slurring. I usually drink with diet soda, I think that might make a difference. Happy Sipping

It could be genetics... some people (races) have higher tolerance to alcohol than others. Alcoholics have a very high tolerance... some reports have pointed to a genetic tendency for high tolerance.
Also, if you drink a lot, you do build up your tolerance.
This is sort of the chicken or the egg argument. You can drink a lot becuase you've built up a tolerance or your tolerance is high becuase you can drink a lot.
However, you can be totally s-faced, but think you're doing great.
You should have people video your parties to see how you're "really" acting.

You've got the gene. Someone in your family, perhaps a Grandparent, was alcoholic. Although you're probably not seeing any of the side effects yet, you've noticed it. Try to test yourself, how long do you go between drinking stints? Do you drink to get drunk? See if you can go 1 week or 2 weeks without a drink. If you can't beware, your treading dangerous waters. Alcoholics whom continue to drink after realizing their alcoholic can guarantee one or all of these three things. 1) Incarceration, 2) Insanity, and, 3) Death. You've noticed it, that's a huge start to realizing it. I wish the best for you.

It means you are probably an alcoholic. It takes more alcohol for you to feel the effects than it used to. Your liver, brain, and heart are likely affected now. Perhaps you should back off some?

There is a scientific explanation for this. Certain people create a special enzyme in the liver that reduces the effect of alcohol. That's the simple explanation.

I can drink a whole bottle of spirits and be okay but I am 228 lbs and been drinking for a long time.
If you drink a lot you become tolerant to it, which is not a good thing.

It can be due to several things. What did you eat for dinner? If you ate somthign heavy say pasta or potatoes, it won't "go straight to your head" it could be that you drink often enough that your body is "used to it" either way, I would make an effort to not drink in excess and to control myself and limit my drinking.
