I think it's rude, anyway. People seem to think it's ok to comment on a pregnant woman's size, as well. "Wow you look like you're going to pop any second!"
Yeah, not ok. Not at all.

I'm skinny, too. All my life. I think some people make comments because they think its easy to change your bodies natural eating habits and metabolism to "fatten" you up. They say " you need to put some meat on those ribs". And after all, being skinnny is not nearly as unacceptable as being obese, and certainly not morbid obesity, so making comments about slimness seems less hurtful than the fat comments, right?
I am self-conscious about the issue. Occasionally when I'm depressed the the feelings are magnified. Folks aren't always aware of this.
On the bright side, the comments seem to have slowed now that I'm older, not that I weigh any more now. So be glad becuase folks stop caring (or start minding their own business) once you reach a certain age.

I totally agree with you. I'm 5'7" and 105 lbs, and some people say some really hurtful things about my size, and that's exactly what I tell them. When they tell me, I wish I was skinny, but not that skinny, I say yea I wish I was fatter, but not that much fatter, just to show them, it does hurt either way.

It's only acceptable to make fun of people that are better than you. You can tell a cultures hierarchy based on what is made fun of most.
In parts of Africa it's the fat people that get made fun of. No one would dare pick on a skinny person there.

Its rude to comment, I have had people comment on my size since I was a kid.
People asking if Im anorexic, telling me I look sick. Its just my size...
Im still slim even though Im pregnant, and i still get comments.
The way I've dealt with it is to tell them straight that its rude of them to comment on my size, you have to train people on how to treat you.

Because in our society people thrive on being skinny, they see nothing wrong with haveng no meat on your bones but when someone God for bid acually eats it's considered overweight.
