I have an alomst 6 month old welsh corgi. He's a great puppy all the time, except i'm noticing a few things that worry me.

I can give him a bowl of food and put my hand in it and he will eat right next to me without a problem, but when he finds something in the house that he isn't suppose to have (like a wrapper, etc.) and I try to get it out of his mouth he goes nuts (he bites and growls at me).

The vet told us to hold his mouth closed if this behavior occurs, but it seems as though i can't even get my hand around his mouth to stop him from doing it because he is so mad that he bites me in the process. He also barks and growls at ppl when we walk down the road, yet is super friendly and happy to greet ppl and other dogs when we go to the dog park.

Other than this "aggressive" behavior I am noticing, he is really a wonderful dog. He loves to hop on my lap, get belly rubs, and all the other normal puppy stuff.I just don't want this problem to become a bigger one.

Don't hold mouth closed it just makes them more aggressive. When he takes something you need to swap it for something better eg a toy r food treat - reward him for giving up his stolen item.
HE is protective of your house. You will need to do some trainning for this - put aside some time each day and do the following:Put him on a lead When people are walking past. ask him to sit or drop and reward him for staying calm and relaxed.
I think if you haven't done any obedience training with him thats the first step so that he learns that dong as you ask gets him a reward (pats, cuddle, toy or food). You really need to get on top of it NOW as those corgi's can get very aggressive and overly dominating if they don't have a strong owner that has good control of them.
Neutering may help if its a hormonal agression, but keeping him entire certainly willmake aggression worse - so get him desexed and take him to dog training

6 months is moving into adult years.
Get a handle on it soon or he'll think this is how he should be.

When the vet told you to hold his mouth closed he should have told you to grab him around his top NOSE area and push the dogs upper lips into his mouth with your fingers. Your fingers will also be in the dogs mouth. But his lips will be between your fingers and his teeth..
This causes the dog to bite his own lips at the same time as you. Sometimes a dog will try to tough it out and hurt you more then himself. At this point it's a matter of will's. IF you can be stronger than the dog he'll understand that he gets hurt for biting.
He's hurting himself by biting his own upper lips. He'll soon understand biting only hurts himself.
You may have to hold him like this for awhile. 5 to 30 sec. telling him NO BITE!!!!
Until he stops with the bitting thing keep your face away from him.

I had an issue like that with my black lab puppy. She used to growl and try to bite when I attempted to get her to let go of something she wasn't supposed to have. I found that the best way to get her to drop the object was to push her lip inside her mouth a little between her teeth. She figured out that it hurts to bite down on her lip and we didn't have nearly as much trouble getting her to let go of things anymore. I don't know if this helps, but if you still have problems, I would ask the vet what to do.

Unless your going to show the puppy, by all means neuter the guy, it's a health reason. Hmm aggression?? When you take something out of his mouth do you replace it with an item that he can have??
Take him to kindergarden, it's time, it will teach both you and him how to handle canine behavior. Cheers Bogey
