Do you have any mutual friends together? Ask if her and some of her friends want to go out to eat, movie, whatever, with you and your friends. It's easy, not a bit date asking thing and then you can find time to talk to her one on one and see if there's something there. If you go right up and say, "would you like to go out with me" there's a chance she might just say no because it's too awkward. If the get together works out good, then you slip right in with a, "maybe next time we can go out by ourselves." very nonchalant. You're both on the track team so there's something in common.

Ask her out for coffee or a movie or something. Nothing too huge, juts a casual hangout date. Just "This movie's opening tomorrow- want to go see it with me after practice?" Don't give up, and just be friendly. Be careful not to overdo it and you'll be fine.

Talk to her, ask her for her number, or ask her on a date! Good luck!
