I live in Toronto, I am Christian, but I love my Muslim friends...I think they're great

I said something to the effect that I don't understand why ppl misunderstand Muslims, they're not all terrorist, and almost all the ones I met and are friends with are great ppl. I was told I was wrong by a Muslim because I live in Canada, and all the Muslims I know live in Canada. In the middle east, many Muslims still feel Israel should be wiped out, and some terrorism is okay.

Is this really true? I know my Muslim friends don't support that, or at least won't say directly to me...but do Muslims in the middle east really feel this way?

I hope you read this answer because it sounded like you honestly wanted to hear the truth. Believe me, many muslims will tell you what you want to hear if it will further their agenda.

See this quote: "Fully 12% of Muslim Canadians polled by Environics said the alleged terrorist plot -- that included kidnapping and beheading the prime minister and blowing up Parliament and the CBC -- was justified."

They do the math for you in the article- roughly speaking, this would indicate that ***84,000 muslims*** in YOUR country alone think that a horrifying terrorist act WAS JUSTIFIED.

While it is nice and sweet that a "majority" of muslims are peaceful..... 84,000 is not an insignificant number. People who tell you "a few people" are the problem are LYING to you.

Let us analyze this allegation of ‘fundamentalism’ and ‘terrorism’:

1. Definition of the word ‘fundamentalist’

A fundamentalist is a person who follows and adheres to the fundamentals of the doctrine or theory he is following. For a person to be a good doctor, he should know, follow, and practise the fundamentals of medicine. In other words, he should be a fundamentalist in the field of medicine. For a person to be a good mathematician, he should know, follow and practise the fundamentals of mathematics. He should be a fundamentalist in the field of mathematics. For a person to be a good scientist, he should know, follow and practise the fundamentals of science. He should be a fundamentalist in the field of science.

2. Not all ‘fundamentalists’ are the same

One cannot paint all fundamentalists with the same brush. One cannot categorize all fundamentalists as either good or bad. Such a categorization of any fund amentalist will depend upon the field or activity in which he is a fundamentalist. A fundamentalist robber or thief causes harm to society and is therefore undesirable. A fundamentalist doctor, on the other hand, benefits society and earns much respect.

3. I am proud to be a Muslim fundamentalist

I am a fundamentalist Muslim who, by the grace of Allah, knows, follows and strives to practise the fundamentals of Islam. A true Muslim does not shy away from being a fundamentalist. I am proud to be a fundamentalist Muslim because, I know that the fundamentals of Islam are beneficial to humanity and the whole world. There is not a single fundamental of Islam that causes harm or is against the interests of the human race as a whole. Many people harbour misconceptions about Islam and consider several teachings of Islam to be unfair or improper. This is due to insufficient and incorrect knowledge of Islam. If one critically analyzes the teachings of Islam with an open mind, one cannot escape the fact that Islam is full of benefits both at the individual and collective levels.

4. Dictionary meaning of the word ‘fundamentalist’

According to Webster’s dictionary ‘fundamentalism’ was a movement in American Protestanism that arose in the earlier part of the 20th century. It was a reaction to modernism, and stressed the infallibility of the Bible, not only in matters of faith and morals but also as a literal historical record. It stressed on belief in the Bible as the literal word of God. Thus fundamentalism was a word initially used for a group of Christians who believed that the Bible was the verbatim word of God without any errors and mistakes.

According to the Oxford dictionary ‘fundamentalism’ means ‘strict maintenance of ancient or fundamental doctrines of any religion, especially Islam’.

Today the moment a person uses the word fundamentalist he thinks of a Muslim who is a terrorist.

5. Every Muslim should be a terrorist

Every Muslim should be a terrorist. A terrorist is a person who causes terror. The moment a robber sees a policeman he is terrified. A policeman is a terrorist for the robber. Similarly every Muslim should be a terrorist for the antisocial elements of society, such as thieves, dacoits and rapists. Whenever such an anti-social element sees a Muslim, he should be terrified. It is true that the word ‘terrorist’ is generally used for a person who causes terror among the common people. But a true Muslim should only be a terrorist to selective people i.e. anti-social elements, and not to the common innocent people. In fact a Muslim should be a source of peace for innocent people.

6. Different labels given to the same individual for the same action, i.e. ‘terrorist’ and ‘patriot’

Before India achieved independence from British rule, some freedom fighters of India who did not subscribe to non-violence were labeled as terrorists by the British government. The same individuals have been lauded by Indians for the same activities and hailed as ‘patriots’. Thus two different labels have been given to the same people for the same set of actions. One is calling him a terrorist while the other is calling him a patriot. Those who believed that Britain had a right to rule over India called these people terrorists, while those who were of the view that Britain had no right to rule India called them patriots and freedom fighters.

It is therefore important that before a person is judged, he is given a fair hearing. Both sides of the argument should be heard, the situation should be analyzed, and the reason and the intention of the person should be taken into account, and then the person can be judged accordingly.

7. Islam means peace

Islam is derived from the word ‘salaam’ which means peace. It is a religion of peace whose fundamentals teach its followers to maintain and promote peace throughout the world.

Thus every Muslim should be a fundamentalist i.e. he should follow the fundamentals of the Religion of Peace: Islam. He should be a terrorist only towards the antisocial elements in order to promote peace and justice in the society.

Muslims, or at least the majority are peaceful. Israel shouldn't be wiped out, and it shouldn't wipe out the Palestinians either. Terrorism is not okay, and if sometimes self defense is considered terrorism then maybe tats the kind your friends are talking about. I think that if the Palestinians, that were kicked out of their homes, if they can get their old homes back, and the Israelis get a non-stolen land in Palestine then that'll be good and no need for war, and if they don't oppress the Palestinians and take over their holy land then we might consider living peacefully. But wiping out people isn't the best solution for peace.

Some think it's true. Though I'll be honest most Muslim countries don't agree with Israel's existence. Like Palestine, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iran. And Israel refuses to recognize Palestine as well. So that also creates problems with the Middle East because we recognize that Palestine is our land. The UN and USA just made that country for the Eurpoean Jews to make them happy. If you look at how the country was originally suppossed to be divided up and how it is today you'd realize that the UN and USA cheated Palestine out of their land.

I'm a Muslim and i think terrorism is not acceptable by its definition . Islam always urges us to not kill any one safe nor elderly nor children nor women nor even cutting their trees ....etc .
but when we see what happening in Palestine, calling that a terrorism is sooo mean . it is a WAR and killing happened from both sides.. where is the problem when some one defends on his country , home, kids .. , i think you don't expect from them to put their hands on their cheeks and watch, why would we blame them :)

hope the peace comeback to the earth again , life is short .. why can't we just live together with love :)

israel the people shouldnt be wiped out. but they cant just come and take over palestine. but terrorism is not allowed by islam. most of it is political. islam only allows fighting in self defense or defense of religion. most muslims DO NOT believe that. very few that do. most fighting is political (i know i repeated that lol)

Dude....I am not a Muslim....but instead of listening to what they say, look at what they DO. Why are the Protocols of the Elders of Zion a best seller throughout the mideast? Have you heard Islamic voices condemning that? I have not. Have you heard Islamic voices condemning what Iran's leadership said about the holocaust? I have not.

What I have seen is...when questioned....they always bring it back to....well...that happens because the Jews and American media...blah blah blah.

I haven't heard a Muslim leader condemn the Protocols of Zion, or issue a fatwah against them.

They sure had no problem issueing fatwahs against the Danish cartoonist....I wonder why that is.

Zombie....I have a question for you...regarding what you said about the initial plan for two states.....

Which side invaded which side? Which side accepted that deal, and which side didn't? You invaded...you lost. What happens when countries lose land during war?

I'm sorry Zombie....just another quick fact to contracdict your rhettoric...you said it was made to be a home for European Jews....if that's the case then why was their an exodus of Jews from Iran, Lyria, Lebanon, Egypt, what became Jordan, and Iraq into Israel?

2nd question......were the Jews that were kicked out of Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq in 47' and 67' European?

Many of the Jews in Israel went there to flee ARAB persecution.

You can all thumbs down me...and you can all say there shouldn't be oppression...you can say you don't support terrorism.....but you can't answer the basic questions.

When I asked you...twice....specific questions about Israel, I got exactly one person who gave a concrete answer. I know you all read the question. Why couldn't you answer it?

For the gentleman who asked this question.....what did they say.....vs. what do they do

These are the links to the question I asked...read them...ask your friends...and see what they say...

If theyre arabs

whove seen some terrible things done in palestine in the name of keeping the israeli government safe..

if theyve had relatives whove seen people get hurt and are hurt themselves

they will look for mechanisms of self defense

and one of that is called blaming.
