Don't worry. Lot's of universities, particulary good ones, understand that some students don't necessarily get off to a good start on their earlier high school years. For example, USC only looks specifically at your sophomore, junior, and senior years. As long you get good grades from this time on (like A's) then you'll be just fine. Your junior year is your most important year in high school so make sure you really hit on that year, sophomore is okay, but be sure you're getting on the right track starting now, and senior year, they are just making sure you are keeping up your work and not developing "senoritis". It's never too late to change!

Best of luck! and don't worry

I would say that no, it is never too late to start improving your grades. Not to disappoint though, but at the beginning of the year I had to attend a workshop that showed how getting the best grades possible throughout your entire high school career is very important. Most colleges look at the GPA of your grades from all four years (similar to an average). By getting A's your GPA overall will be improved, but if you were to be competing against people who were A students throughout, your GPA would be no where close to theirs because even one seriously bad grade can make your GPA drop. I will stress that NO its not too late, so do your best. Volunteer and participate in a lot of extra-curricular activities because grades are important, but not the only thing colleges look at. There are scholarships for other things. Keep that in mind. Good Luck!

It is not too late. If you put in the effort, you can raise your GPA to a very acceptable level for a university. If you have one or more particular universities in mind, now would be the time to go to their websites and look at their admission requirements. These sites will give you the information you will need to set your goals. Don't get discouraged. You have plenty of time to get on track and now that you realize what you want, you can do it! Good luck.

Well -- Harvard may be out. But there are still plenty of good schools that will take a look at you. If you do manage to start doing well in High School, you can address this problem in your college essay. Many schools will be impressed that you realized that you weren't doing a good job in school and turned it around.

If you can go from Ds to As just by deciding to then you won't have any trouble getting into college.
