my glands just below the ears at the side of my neck on both sides are raised. the left side has been extremely itchy for years. no specialist has given me a cure, what is the cause?

It is not unusual for lymph glands to remain enlarged without a problem (I have this myself after a lingering infection, the most obvious one is in my neck just above my collar bone). If you Dr has checked you bloods and all is clear then don't worry about it, it's just one of those things.

what do they say when you see a specialist?
those are glands part of the lymph system. the only time they enlarge is when they are fighting infection. have you had blood work done? when my daughter has a cold, those glands enlarge, i take the side of my hands and do a firm massage starting at the jaw line and glide down to the collar bone. that helps her, but if you have had the left side enlarged for years, not sure if that will help.
go to a doctor, get blood work..
your lymph system mal functioning is nothing to play around with..
