We are all aware of the effects that being a prisoner of war can have on the mind.. if someone were tortured (boiled in oil, for example) and exiled to live on an island in prison.. then wrote a book with a fantastic tale from a vision they'd had during an outer body experience.. would you believe it was a vision from God?

Just so you know.. this is exactly what happened to the apostle John who wrote the book of the Revelation.

No, I'd tend to think it was a result of their intense ordeal, a symptom of PTSD perhaps.

Yes, there have been quite a few miraculous accounts from experiences similar to what you describe. These are scripture and inspirational stories that many religious people accept as evidence of God.

That John the Revelator had just such an experience lends even more strength to it.

Interesting question. I don't feel equipped to answer it since I've never had a vision, or been a POW. Hell...in my college days we did a few "things", and I never had a vision then either. I'm just not a vision kinda guy.

No. But some government should have to pay for the therapy that poor person needs .... Hey ... wasn't that a saint guy.??.. naw .. you must mean somebody else.

As I understand it, boiling John in oil was an execution and he wouldn't boil. So yeah, I'd believe it.

I would pretend to believe him just to be polite but deep down inside I weren't believe him.
