Just thank them for the invitation and tell them lunchtime is the only time at home and work where you get to unplug and just be. If they have kids, they'll understand.

Absolutely be honest without hurting their feelings.
"Being a wife and mother, I find that I really need my lunch hour to take care of errands or just have some down time."
You may also add that once in awhile is OK if there is a special occasion, BUT ONLY if u mean it. Who knows? ..., maybe they are just asking to be polite and your refusal to go may be just the "out" they are needing. By all means, take a little time for yourself and go for a walk.

"I'm sorry, but I need that time by myself to clear my head. It really helps me concentrate on work after lunch." In this way you can still stay at the office, or even go out to lunch by yourself, and avoid all the boring chit-chat.

Just tell them youoften have errands and other things to do at lunch and that some down-time is important to you (Time spent by yourself, reading, or meditating, or whatever). If they get miffed, they get miffed. You cannot please everyone and the most important person to please is yourself. You don't want to spend all your time having lunch with these dolts, and dreading it every day. Life is too short.

Most likely, they are going to talk about you behind your back whether you eat with the or not.
So, fart a couple of times and act nonchalant - they'll stop inviting you.

Then explain to them why.Sometimes boring people may need someone as perfect as you are to show them the way.And to help them develop those skills needed to feel better than everyone else, that you so obviously have.
