I currently have a 2 year old boxer and am wanting to get a small breed puppy. My boxer is very playful, especially around other dogs. And what should I look for as far as attitude with a new puppy that wont' make my boxer jealous???

Try a smaller mixed breed. They are cheaper and usually less high strung so will not be so easily frightened

Chances are no matter what small breed you get that the larger dog will eventually 'play' too hard. If you boxer is typical he like to 'pounce' on his "prey" right?
Remember the cliche your parents always say "It's all fun and games unitl someone gets hurt". A small dog realy doesn't have much of a chance when it comes down to it. Imagine a guy ten times your size playing rough with you...ouch. Think through the result before you 'torture' a little tiny cute adorable doggy.

I am not against putting two dogs together just know that there is the likelyhood of the smaller dog getting hurt at some point.

Why don't you get another boxer? I have 2 boxers and they just love each other so much, and they seem to look at other dogs kind of crazy! If I were you I would get another boxer! How could you want another breed anyways?? Boxers have the best personalities ever!

my chinese crested is good with big dogs. I would say a lot of small dogs are "velcro" dogs, and will make your boxer jealous. Maybe try and find one who is more independant but not agressive. I think though if you get one as a puppy you should be better off. The puppy and dog can adapt together. I'd be careful getting too small of a dog though, they have tiny legs sometimes, and can get hurt easier than a big dog. I think its less breed specific, but individal dog specific.

I'm jealous, I want another little puppy!

Miniature Pinschers, they are known as "the king of toys" I have two of them and a german shepard and they all get along fine. my buddy also has one with a Rottweiler and they get along fine also. my german shepard is actually scared well not scared but he respects them, they kinda took over as the dominant dogs of the house. hope this helps a little :)
