My friend and I are coming into the city to see her son march, can any locals or previous attendees recommend a good spot to watch from? I'm looking for something with a good view, restrooms not too far (even if we have to buy something to use them, it's no big deal), and hopefully not too mobbed.

Thanks!

The parade route is pretty long, so you shouldn't have trouble finding a good spot.

Your best bet for being close to other amenities is going to be in the midtown area, but be sure to avoid the area right near St. Patrick's Cathedral on 5th Avenue and 51st Street.

There is also a reviewing stand at 64th Street, so try and avoid that as well.

Another good spot is above 79th Street. The parade ends at 86th Street, and it is usually less crowded up there. (Except for a lot of drunk firemen....)

If you walk east from 5th Avenue (across the Avenue from Central Park), there are plenty of restaurants/bars/shops on Madison/Lexington Avenues and farther east.
