Lead free?

Most tips are copper, and you can tin them with what ever you want. Actually better tips are steel plated copper, and have used them for years, but I don't do any lead free soldering.

Do you mean a soldering gun, like the Weller 8200?

Those tips are also pure copper, but do burn out. You will have better luck with the plated versions of these as well.

Buy the real Weller tips, as knock-off, like the Radio Shack versions are thinner right at the tip, where they burn out.
