I have to enter inventory numbers onto a spread sheet. The first eight characters are the same (MR.2004.)

How can i get this to show up in each column without retyping it, and so that i can add additional numbers to the end i.e. MR.2004.13, MR.2004.26, etc.

If you need more details, please ask.

Start by ignoring the first eight characters, instead just entering the remaining characters like 13, 26, etc.

Let's say you do this in col. A.

Now insert a new col. B. In cell B1 enter the following formula:

="MR.2004."&A1

Copy and paste this formula from B2 down through the last row in which you have input in col. A.

Col. B will now have the complete inventory number. You can copy the whole col. and paste in back over col A with a Paste Special - Values, then delete col. B. Now col. A will be just as it would have been had you entered the entire inventory number to start with!

Type MR2004 in the first cell (Say A1) press enter. Right click on A1 and press copy. On A2 highlight the cell and drag the mouse down for as many rows as you want. The cells will go a light blue. Right click again and press paste. MTR2004 will now be in all the cells. Align all the cells to right indent.

For column B, align to left and put in the codes you want. IE -14 -26 -491 etc etc. You will not be able to use a decimal point as it will automatically put a 0 before the point. You can make column B smaller by just dragging the line between B & C.

Tried to email you back but you don't accept emails

You can just get it to bring an arrow up on the bottom line in the middle and it will drag the numbers down to each box

Make sure you have not anything ticked to say it will fill out the next consecutive number, so it does not take it up by a number each time

Sorry just read your other bit, once the details are duplicated and you only want to add more info, click the cell the info is in .....you will see it appear at the top in a columm, there add your info then click on the tick and it will add it for you
