That's the way it is, be it your parents or your husband's parents they are always going to know how to do things better than you, and will even do things you don't want them to do with your child. They believe it's their right as a grandparent.
I have learned over the last few months that when it comes to a parent, step-parent, or grandparent trying to tell me something about my baby to just say "well, we'll see". And make sure you throw in a "that's MY baby" in a joking way when you get a chance. It gets the point across even though you're joking. That has helped me tremendously with my step-mom. Rather than calling telling me WHEN she is going to come & get my baby, she now calls & ASKS if she can come & get him and I never had to say a word to her about the situation.

A ton of people on here ask that question, so your not the only one! Mother-in-laws tend to be a little controlling so maybe she misses taking care of babies or her loved ones so shes taking care of yours like it's her own!!!!if it gets to bad, sit down with her and your husband and talk about the situation!!!!

Yes, my son is now 30 and my mother in law is 79 and she still thinks she has all the answers for my son and husband. She got mad when we moved across town and said she would move as close to us as she could. Guess what? We bought property with 5 acres and , nope she could not get close. We just had to get a little distance so we could have our family.

Whether it's your mother or mil, they have years of experience and can be helpful, but they should not overdo it or make it a point of contention. Your word must come first.

I never had that problem with anyone. Had they stepped into my territory, I'd of run them right back out.
