This would all vary with several things.
As a Patrol dog handler in the military we would actually poor a small amount of oil or fat on the dogs food before feeding. Usually steak fat or grease. (NOT ALOT) just for the flavor. This is good for the dogs coat. and we was told good for cold enviornments.
You must understand these were extremlly healthy working dogs that got a tremendous amount of exsersise.
IF a dog is a lap dog that lay's around all day and doesnt get exsersise this would be a bad thing.
OR older dogs this would be bad,
OR over weight dogs, this would be bad.
Let your vet deside what is best for you animal. They will consider all the important factors and tell you the best thing for your dog.
