Our lab's 3rd birthday is coming up. The kids thought it might be fun to make her something special. I'm open to other ideas too.

There are lots. Just do a Yahoo or Google search. Here is the Humane Society Recipe From the Peninsula Humane Society, San Mateo, Ca

1/2 cup cornmeal
6 tbsp Oil
2 cups whole wheat flour
2/3 cup water or broth

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients together well. Roll out to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes with cooky cutter. Bake 35-40 mins, let cool and store in tightly sealed container.

There's also a whole page of them at
http://www.bullwrinkle.com/Assets/Recipes/Recipes.htm

Just remember, no matter what any sites say, do NOT put sugar/raisins/corns syrup/chocolate or anything like that in pet food. Sugar is bad for humans but can be fatal for pets. Their bodies are simply not equipped to handle it.
It's great that you want to do something special for your dog. You can even use cookie cutters to make shapes, or build him a little dog house out of dog biscuits or something.
He's lucky to have you.
Hope this helps.

In your search engine type, dog biscuit recipes. Right off the top of my head I can't think of any but I know I got a coupe of lists of recipes for dogs.

You may have to change the wording if you don't find what you want. 'homemade dog treats' or something like that. There are several sites.

Enjoy your party.

Tuna Cake: 1 Large Tin Tuna in Spring Water, drained. 1 cup wholemeal flour 1 cup porridge oats 1 cup Sunflower Oil 1 dessertspoonful minced garlic 1 Egg Place all ingredients in a Magimix and blend well on full speed. Spread the mixture on to a large flat baking sheet and bake in Oven at 180 degrees for 40 minutes until golden brown. Cut into small squares while still warm. My dogs go crazy for this. It is a good healthy treat which does not contain any additives or preservatives. It will last in the Fridge for 5 days or it can be frozen in small batches.
