Yeah...I've prayed for the same thing before myself. Most of us pray for ourselves and family members or friends. Every once in a while I slide the prayer in that asks for God to please bless everybody in the whole world. Wouldn't it be better if everyone were blessed and things got better for everyone and not just your family ? Well, I guess the world would be "Heaven" and not earth if that were to happen. Still can't hurt to ask for this, though...right ? Do It Anyway...that's a country song by Martina McBride and it touches on this thought here. Some of the lyrics are : God is Great, but sometimes life ain't good...and when I pray, sometimes things don't always turn out like I think they should...BUT I DO IT ANYWAY (pray). This is a great message.

No Stacy I do not. I know from our scriptures that we will never have world peace. That is until Jesus' second coming. While I am not very good with end time subjects I know there is mention of a Millennium Kingdom where Jesus reigns on Earth and after Satan comes out for one last stand and then Judgment. After Judgment there will be eternal peace.

Now there is no harm in praying for peace. I lean towards God's will be done as found in the prayer Jesus taught.

I believe in world peace when Christ returns and sets up His kingdom on this earth. Until then, it will just get worse.

In regards to the comment about praying not working, I feel that praying is a shot in the dark if you don't believe in God, and His Son, Jesus the Christ. How can a person pray and expect to get an answer from a God who they have no relationship with.

Not with the world in its current form. The true Christian belief would point out that no world government (any of the current countries or any combination of them--including all of them placed under one world government) is capable of establishing peace (since all are in the power of the wicked one). And to my understanding, the majority of all religions (Christian or otherwise) believe more or less the same thing. Who God is or who his "rival" is (whether it be Satan, Yakub, human nature, etc.) may change from religion to religion, but the idea that we can attain world peace without God does not.

And at some point in the future we are supposed to attain it in some form, but that is when we are about to enter our worst point in history. We are supposed to be yelling "Peace and Security" at precisely the moment before it all goes to hell. I look forward to it as a sign that God will be back soon, but I am not looking forward to it as a good thing. That is when the worst is to come. Pray not for world peace, it goes against what God taught us. Pray instead for God's Kingdom; it is more in line with what God taught us and will bring about that peace you want, but it will be more permanent than what you are praying for currently.

We're born into a world where everybody suffers to some degree or another based on their life circumstances, and sometimes don't understand what the true causes of peace are... so we don't have world peace. Best thing to do is cultivate it in your little nook of the world and hope it catches like wildfire and continue praying.

May all beings have happiness and the cause of happiness and freedom from suffering and the causes of suffering.

I do believe in world peace, however, I don't think it will happen until God has returned and all of the evil is put in its place...but you are doing the right thing, we should be praying for it...God Bless and have a nice day.

I would love to believe in world piece. But as long as there are people or groups in the world that hold the amount of power that America has, and people who are starving and dieing...Then no I don't believe we will ever achieve world peace.

Well you can pray all you want but nothing will change unless you act, along with a lot of people.

How about other than praying, try to spread messeges of peace? Convince others of peace?

This world isn't made up of numbers, it is made up of us. If all of us are peaceful, then we will truly have world peace. So why don't we all spread the messege of peace?
