It is very easy to pull a neck or lower back muscle with ANY physical activity. Use a light combination of heat and ice for a few minutes a day for 2-3 days. If pain still persists see your family doctor. Always stretch before and after engaging in a sport.

It's very easy to pull a muscle in your neck because of the type of game - you are using your shoulder and arm muscles and looking up so you are also using the neck. Always make sure you are properly warmed up before playing. Do some head rolling to make sure that the neck is moving freely.

You can pull any muscle doing anything. Sometimes you don't even realize that you've used that muscle much. I starined my chest muscles once while skipping. SKIPPING. Couldn't breath right for days...totally lame.
