I have been a muslim all my life so it has been a huge part in how my parents raised me. The image of islam in my heart has been so perfect all my life and this new image that the terrorists and media have drawn clashes with my own. I was taught never to steal. That I shouldn't lie, that I shouldn't hurt anyone. Even backtalking and gossiping is looked down upon in islam. If you think about it, its ridiculous if you believe islam allows murder but then doesn't allow hurting anyone's feelings. The Quran is very easy to misinterpret unless you look at it as a whole. Who I am today is in large part due to my religion. A muslim is someone who is honest, someone who gives to people who are less fortunate than us, someone who appreciates every blessing, someone who is selfless. This is very different from the stereotype of an angry arab with a bomb strapped on him declaring jihad on anyone who upsets him. There are of course all kinds of people in the world in every group but unforuntately the worst kinds are the loudest. I appreciate your question very much because not many people try to understand anything before they judge it. thank you!

Being a Muslim means that I submit to the will of Allah, follow His words as passed through the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in the Qur'an, and strive for peace with everyone.

The deep meaning of a Muslim means one who submits to God in worship. Basicly means we worship God. Islam means peace, and the teachings of Islam wants the followers to seek knowledge until the day we die.
How I apply this to my daily life is first by serving God, by prayer or simply teach others about my religion. Second is to seek knowledge everyday and learn new things.

being muslim means two things to me:
being a believer in God
being a submitter to Gods will
those are seperate things as you can see...a believer does not necessarily submit his life and his efforts all to God
the religion of islam means a lot to me
its the only religion who can open the way to higher conciousness not through prayer alone, but through active and critical thinking because education is highly prized and ignorance is akin to sin in Islam

Praise be to Allah.
Tthe 2 questions seem to be 1, because being MUSLIM is to believe in the religion of ISLAM, so I'll make 1 answer for the 2 questions.
Being a muslim, this makes me to put Islam before everything in my life. Because you won't imagine how SURE we are, that this religion is the TRUE RELIGION of THE CREATOR, and this is not emotionally based or something ONLY spritual. To know what Islam means to us you have to know first what Allah (The creator) mean to us. We love Allah and His prophet Mohammed (Peace and Blessing of Allah be upon him) MORE THAN OURSILVES; MORE THAN OUR FAMILIES; OUR MONEY, this is simply explained in the following manner (you never follow someone if you don't love him) and that's why as muslims we are careful to follow the orders of Allah and his last prophet (Peace and Blessing of Allah be upon him) because we love them more than anything in our life.
For example: Allah ,who is the one who created you, says in the following verses in the holy Qur'aan (interpretation of meaning):
"When My servants ask thee concerning Me, I am indeed close (to them): I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calleth on Me: Let them also, with a will, Listen to My call, and believe in Me: That they may walk in the right way."
Al Baqarah :186
"It was We Who created man, and We know what dark suggestions his soul makes to him: for We are nearer to him than (his) jugular vein."
Qaf : 16
"Say: "O my Servants who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah: for Allah forgives all sins: for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."
Al-Zumar : 53
after all that shouldn't we love the creator Allah? shouldn't we follow his orders and his messenger?
I hope you start to understand how Islam means to us.
May Allah guide you to his straight path and true religion Islam. Ameen

islam is the religion of logic , it isnt about just blind faith , if you read the koran it proves that its not the work of man it appeared hundreds of years ago and yet in more than verse it explains how a child is formed in the deffirant stages og pregnancy.and there other scientific clues in the koran that show that it truly could only come from god.
