What is the physical/chemical reaction that causes one to relax after an orgasm?

Are there are kinds/causes of 'spasmic reactions' that also cause the body to relax? Epilepsy?

Also, do women have different intensity of orgasms than males which doesn't result in the body wanting to relax after the orgasm?

I think the spas-mic reactions are more reflex reaction to the stimuli and not epilepsy though than can cause spas mic reaction also but it's not related to sex . And when your finished with your orgasms the blood flow to the area subsides alleviating the muscle tensions of orgasm . I think women and men's level of intensity during orgasm may be similar but women are more capable of multiple orgasms than men which may be why it takes women longer to relax .

An orgasm is created by two totally separate nervous system responses. First, feelings of happiness and relaxation are produced by the parasympathetic ("rest and digest") nervous system, which tells your body that you're safe and feeling good. At the same time, excitement and sexual tension (and erection) are created by the sympathetic ("Fight or flight") nervous system, which tells your body to get up and go. Once the orgasm occurs and dissipates all the tension built up, the relaxation created by the parasympathetic system takes over, making you want to rest.

Male orgasms require a greater buildup by the sympathetic nervous system, because of the need for erection. This may be why males have a greater 'rest' response after.
