Because every other rapper wears them. The people that follow hip hop scene are some of the most unoriginal when it comes to fashion. They all wear the same stuff, and it is usually 4 sizes to big for them.

Do you know how much those heavy winter jackets cost? For the bling of course! Plus, if they arn't wearing any thing on top a heavy jacket will always help keep you warm!

So that they look like street thugs...street thugs of course wear the jackets to either hide guns or look like they might have guns.
