Go MUNCH! I mean, come on, from space there are no boundaries between countries. And flags are nothing to salute at--they're what power mongers use to tell the soldiers who the enemy is, because to the eye he looks just like a friend or brother! When I tell a "patriotic" American we need to do more to help the orphans in Africa, and hear, "Charity begins at home," I say, "Hey, Africa is home, too!" Thanks for the great question!

God blesses everyone, everywhere. In america so many patriotic songs and speeches always have the sentence "God bless america" because God is a very important part of americas way of doing things, feeling things.

I am 100% in favor of separation of church and state. I think any official recognition of God is unconstitutional. Among other things, we need to take "under God" out of the Pledge of Allegiance, remove "In God We Trust" from our money, and ban opening and closing prayers from House, Senate, or other government meetings.
I think a lot of the problem is that the perpetrators go unpunished. I donate money to Americans United for Separation of Church and State, and much of it goes to lawsuits to prevent illegal government sponsored religious activities. When they win, the result is that the illegal activities stop. But if we also put the violators in jail for 10 years, the next person who wanted to try this might think twice.
As far as singing things like "God Bless America" at a baseball game, this is legal because it is not sponsored by the government (provided it is professional baseball and not at a public school), but it is still wrong to alienate people who don't believe in God. I'm paying money to buy a ticket to watch a baseball game, not to pray.
I think that politicians saying "God Bless America" at the end of their speeches have the right to do that, but again, they are alienating people just to cowtow to the Christian majority.
The only thing I disagree with is that if God does exist, I would prefer that he destroy our enemies and not bless them.

America is People and the culture of many different types of people. We all should keep our myths within our mind and government should deal with the issues rationally. The shortcomings of religious radicals have been the albatross of all societies. I think it shows our imperialistic national view. People want to feel good about themselves ad the country that they live. It is like the friend of yours that always ends the conversation with "let's get together for lunch" and never do. People in power want you to believe you are blessed. No matter that your house was flooded, you are blessed. No mater your president screwed up and decided to invade your wallet, you are blessed. You have given the ultimate sacrifice and given your children to war, you are blessed. It is a meaningless gesture.

Foundational beliefs usually manifest themselves into a perspective of how life should be lived... rights of people ... effects on our children.
So how could we not want to convey policy to what we believe would benefit everyone.
The struggle with America is its' peoples are such a hodge podge of beliefs that there will always be controversy about what's best in policy.
Nonetheless, I pray for my leaders, vote, and am thankful for the blessings I experience due to living in this nation...
now that I have children... I find myself being much more active in all those areas...

Whenever a disaster occurs, one of the first things out of an unbeliever's mouth is, "Where was God in all this?"
Why should He bother when this nation has rejected Him? We ban Him from our schools and public events, prayer is forbidden, we abort millions of children, and embrace deviant lifestyles.
You're right! Why should God bless America? We certainly don't bless Him!

I'm always struck by the idea that God might choose to bless America with defeat and humiliation. What better way for humans to learn compassion?
I don't think that's what most people have in mind, however.

saying God bless u . s . a . of america interior the 1st place is very patronising. You lot seem to think of u . s . a . of america is the sole u . s . a . interior the international. Your u . s . a . is purely a pair of hundred years old while extremely some different international locations have been around for hundreds of years so the u . s . certainly is rather insignificant different than having the biggest financial equipment. you haven't got plenty historic previous and nevertheless have plenty to income.

It is a good mental conditioning to imbue positive thoughts and outlook about oneself as individual and as a group unto nation. It promotes clarity of thought on the direction of the goal. In this case, to become a great nation. It works. On the spiritual side, you are correct to say selflessly it should be reworded to bless the entire world.

God blessing America has nothing to do with whether or not other countries and peoples are deserving of blessings too. When you pray for God to bless your Grandma, do you mean that you want other people's grandmas to die? no. you just want Him to bless your grandma!
