Of those drivers who competed in Cup and Busch series races at Daytona, all the driver were white.
This sport needs an African-American driver, I'm tried of all-whites in this sport.

Not only did Wendell Scott compete in NASCAR for about 25 years, but also gained a Victory on December 1,1963 competing against Richard Petty, David Pearson, Ned Jarrett, Buck Baker, and Lee Roy Yarbrough as well as many others in that race.

because there hasn't been a lot of African-American interest in the sport, there are a few, crew members and such but when there are 150 PEOPLE trying to get a ride and only one is African-American , you have to pick the best driver. If the African-American driver was the best in that pool you can bet he would be driving. Look at Kerry Earnhardt, he couldn't keep his ride even being the son of Dale, they found better. I'm sure there is someone out there, but until more try the chance is slim

Actually not all the drivers are "white". Juan Pablo Montoya as well as other competitors aren't American. To duoak I don't buy that crap about body structure because cars are built to accommodate the driver. I think even the people involved in NASCAR are a bit reluctant about hiring African American drivers, which is sad because they should be setting the example that racism isn't acceptable. As soon as they hire an African American man as a full time Nextel cup driver the attitude around the track will begin to change. Sure people have freedom of speech, but at the track that type of behavior shouldn't be allowed because it can ruin the atmosphere of competition. People are allowed to think what they want as long as it isn't seen around NASCAR events.

where have You been? Wendell Scott became the first AFRICAN-AMERICAN NASCAR race winner, in the 1960's. though, not dominate, AFRICAN-AMERICAN drivers, have been competing in NASCAR for the better part of forty years, off and, on. there was Ramo Scott and, Willie T. Ribbs in the seventies and, Bill Lester from the Craftsman Truck Series, competed in a couple of races with the WASTE MANAGEMENT team, last season. You should get your facts straight, before You make Yourself appear ignorant.

Although this is a trollish question I will try to come up with a real answer. The problem is these "Equal" Opportunity Employers. I hear them on the radio and it goes like this, "Women and minorities are encouraged to apply." These "Equal" Opportunity Employers will give minorities and women more of a chance then a white male. Say a white male and a dark skinned African American man apply for a job. Both went to Harvard, both were very good in High School. Basically copies, except for race. These "Equal" Opportunity Employers are going to give the African American man the job, simply because of his race. Not only is this not equal, this is flat out racist. If people said, "White men are encouraged to apply." and gave jobs to people simply because they were white, there would be a public outcry.

What is it with race??? If you have ever watched a race(and I doubt it), when the driver is in his gear helmet and all how do you know what race he is??? All you see is driver so and so for the so and so car. Period. This whole race inequality card is so overplayed. When is the last time the (Rev) Al Sharpton supported a white person? Why is it that blacks have the right to form NAACP and Hispanics can form LULAC and it is not considered racism? Who really cares?

Who cares when one will actually compete and complete a full NASCAR Nextel schedule. Yes, Bill Lester ran some races in the Nextel and of course the truck series, but he hasn't done a complete schedule. So all you Lester fans, get off his jock! When we finally realize that color doesn't matter, maybe things will get better. For instance, Tony Dungy, a great coach. Who care's what his race his. A white man was the quarterback. So, there!

Well If you know Bill Lester ran some cup races last year. He also has ran full schedule in the Truck series several years too. So African-American have driven in Nascar and have competed too.

I personally could care less whether or not an African-American wants to race in NASCAR let them race, just don't make a big deal about it. But I could say the same thing about football and basketball, neither sport I watch, but anytime I turn on one of the games I hardly ever see a white person. I think it should be all about personal preference as to what sport and not a race issue. If and African-American wants to race let them race, if a female wants to race let her race. It shouldn't be about race or gender, if you wanna race, then have the talent and equipment to.
