No, many Bipolar people are on anti-pyschotics. It is another way to control MOOD, just like the Lithium you are on. It does not mean anything.
Most Bipolar people take several medications to control mood, including: mood stablilizers, anti-psychotics, anti-depressants, and others.

Anti-psychotic meds can be used to treat other symptoms that go along with bipolar disorder or can be used as a mood-stabilizer. The medications your taking are used to regulate you mood (keep you from getting depressed and manic) but you may still have other symptoms that those medications aren't addressing, like paranoia. It doesn't mean that you problem is worse. You have to try a variety of medications to find which work best for you.

Your problems may not be worse, your questioning this which is good. From what I've heard those anti- psychotic drugs are VERY strong, and have a lot of side effects. You are good to question this or get a second opinion. I would avoid those drugs if you can get by with something more mild. Get another opinion if necessary. Take care.

You should ask ur psychiatrist if you have a psychotic disorder so that way you will know why you are being put on the medication.
You shouldn't take medication if you don't know why you are taking it. Be involved in your treatment, you will find it alot easier to understand if you do.
Good Luck : )

No two people react to the same medication the same way, and there is still a time of trial and error in medicating. Don't let it scare you. You are still completely control of your life. If the medication worsens your condition or has awful side effects, you can get off of it. Your psychiatrist is just trying to find the combination that might work best for you.

It does not mean you are getting worse You need to understand that finding the right drug is very very important...I would have to say Lithium is a potent drug so therefore he may be replacing that drug with anti psychotic drugs which have done wonders ...prozac is outdated there are new drugs so listen to your doctor bless you love kara
