AS USUAL NASCAR is bending over for the west coast fanbase. So that start the races later and later for them. It doesn't matter that west coast is all about drifting competitions and drag racing. and of course NASCAR could care less about the true fans they already have.

I hate to say this boys but you all have to wake up and realize how big NASCAR is really getting! Much respect to all you fans that have been following since the beginning but a lot of things are going to change and it might just piss off a lot of you too! After the California races last year NASCAR was getting a lot of flack for having two races out there but they sell out and make a lot of money on those California fans so they will cater to them more than they have in the past.
On top of that once the sun went down look how much more racing was going on. True, the last 50-25 laps always get better and better but in the exit interviews all the drivers were talking about how much better the grip was. Better grip = better racing = more fans = more night races.
I hate Toyota being in the races. I hate questions like the other one posted about why there aren't more black drivers. And I absolutely love this sport and the decision to let the Harvick and Martin finish out Daytona the way it should have been. But all you old timers have got to get use to the small changes like night races.

Your argument holds little water. The timing on the throwing of the yellow flag is a judgment call. As each guy or woman who officiates any activity can aid you recognize, there are issues that take place in any contest that require judgment of better than purely rule application. rather much all policies have a "spirit" linked with them. The timing of a yellow flag is a style of. Had NASCAR thrown the yellow on the 2d of twist of fate, a end like the only we observed final Sunday does not have occurred. the thrill, and rush, the strategies-blowing exhilaration or the strategies-blowing enable down of your motive force winning or dropping would have been misplaced. With that loss would have been yet another grotesque end to a Daytona 500 (think of lower back to the Daytona 252 the place Mikey grow to be stated as the winner...). I certainly won't be able to say that your argument does not have a factor, perchance purely through fact of protection. even though, the Daytona 500 isn't a interior reach race of adult men that should bypass lower back to their jobs day after today and would have further secure practices so that they are in a position to proceed to assist their households. The Daytona 500 isn't raced via college pupils who make no money whatsoever from the play of their activity. they're experts on the optimal point. In baseball there's a rule in any respect stages that states in case you run a catcher (with or without the ball), you would be ejected and your run won't count quantity. severe schoolers are ejected for it daily. considerable Leaguers are ejected for it as quickly as consistent with decade through fact the gang loves it. although, the guideline exists interior the considerable League rulebook. that's judgment compounded with the reality that that's relatively not activity for opposition's sake, that's activity for entertainment's sake. Harvick gained.

NASCAR is alot bigger now than anytime before. The fan base is very big all across the country. NASCAR is trying to help out fans on the west coast by starting the races an hour or two later if possible. 10 or 12 years ago the races would start no later than 12:30pm, however the sport has grown and NASCAR is trying accommodate to all the fans, not just one half of the country.

Simple! Prime time coverage means more $$$$$$.....Nascar wants more money so they are trying to have more races end in Prime Time. The race was scheduled to start exactly when it did...3:31pm EST! Dont go by your local Tv guide, they want you to tune in b4 the race starts and watch the commercials. The scheduled green flag drop is always posted on the hosting tracks site. Dont want to see Chris Myers run his mouth for an hour? Then tune in a few minutes b4 the scheduled green flag drop!

I'm going to have to agree that there is waaaay too much crap they feel they have to televise, before the race ever starts, thus the later start time. I mean Kelly Clarkson??? Puhleeeze! Nothing against the girl, but do we need her in concert before the race? Think all the "Old School" fans care about that? Wait a minute....that's right, they desperately want to attract the new and younger fans that think Toyota is cool . Oops, I forgot...silly me.

The reason it ended under the lights because it got dark outside. People would not be able to see without the lights on.

Due to the fact that they do a lot of stuff before the race actually started and also due to the fact that a lot of accidents occurred too maybe.

More preshow coverage didn't let the race start until almost 4 oclock. It got dark by the end.

I honestly think that the answer to this is that fact that NASCAR tends to do alot of BS before the race. Alot of unnecessary stuff that people probably dont want to see.
