I can tell you how my Maine Coon acts...

He is vain, arrogant, and thinks he is the king of the house. When he wants to be brushed, you have to brush him. When he wants to be pet, you have to pet him. When he wants to play, you have to play with him. He thinks he's better than the other cats and likes to bully them (play fighting)... I guess it's because he is bigger than all of them.

He also hates being locked out of somewhere. I never have any privacy, not even when I'm in the shower. If I'm in the shower, he is sitting right there waiting for me to finish. If I lock him out, he meows forever. Very loud meows too...

He is a picky eater... so I have to spend the extra money and buy good food. He also loves treats like "Bounce" (I get the anti-hairball formula treats since he has such long hair). I have to watch him to make sure he doesn't steal my other cat's food... my Maine Coon loves to eat.

His hair is long and he is prone to knots and hairballs. Once in a while (during a very hot summer), I have him shaved. He ends up looking like a cute little lion. However, my cat totally hates this and usually won't talk to me for like two days. But my cat loves to be groomed and will sit still for it if he is just being brushed and having his nails clipped.

Maine Coons are very agile, very beautiful cats (it's the striking eyes I love). They're also great companions I guess. Mine is very lovable and likes all people-- even visitors.

I think you will enjoy breeding them and will have no problem finding new owners to buy the babies.
:)

Good luck to you on your endeavor...
T.

Visit a few cat breeders -- Maine Coon breeders would be a plus but any breed will give you an idea of how things go. See if you can volunteer in the evenings if there is a feline breeder near you so you can get a taste of what it's like.

Request information from the Cat Fanciers association (http://www.cfainc.org/) I noticed they have a mentoring program that might help get you off to the right start.

I could write a book on my cat but i don't have time at the moment. sorry the bottom line is he has added so much love to our family its been great all the memories he has given us. good luck

You would have to learn everything about the breed first. I would not try to get that info here though. You should also attend cat shows and learn all about breeding.
