The whole 'God' thing no the money and in the Pledge was added in the mid 1950's as a knee-jerk reaction to Communism, not any genuine sense of religiousness.

In short, these things, far from honoring your deity, make a mockery of him.

The founding documents of this country were predicated on Deism, not Christianity. Christianity may have been why most of the original settlers moved (by force or choice) but the political founding of the USA was anything BUT Christian.

How does the saying go...? "WELL done, good and faithful servant..."

i'd pick to make sure the position you obtain this quote, "u.s. became no longer in accordance to God or the Bible!"? and the context surrounding it. i'm no longer conserving you made it up, yet truly some "Obama is the Antichrist" human beings make issues up or take his statements out of context. maximum, if no longer all, of the founders of u.s. were Christians and, for this reason, were heavily inspired by the Bible. the theory is extra one among the way a lot any faith or non secular textual content must have on the way the authorities purposes and the guidelines the authorities creates to regulate the society. Governments that are religiously depending finally end up oppressing fantastically a lot absolutely everyone that would not follow that faith. Examples of this exist for the time of historic past and at present with communities like the Taliban. The founding fathers wanted faith separated from authorities - it really is why they placed that thoroughly sparkling separation interior the structure. American authorities can not be in accordance to God and the Bible because our structure calls for the separation of church and state. Does that advise that they did not trust interior the bible, God or weren't Christians? - no, it means they knew that blending faith and authorities is a nasty theory. reaction for your further information: A quote from an severe proper wing booklet is in simple terms no longer supportive of your argument. No, you probably did not factor out the consitution, yet look attempting to make the point that "u.s." became depending on the bible and Christianity. u.s. IS the structure - it really is what each solider and flesh presser swears to help and shelter.

The freedom of America is based at least in part upon the principles of Deism and the Enlightenment. The dollar does not say "God Bless America." It says "In God We Trust;" this was put there in the 1950s to demonstrate to the world that we were different from the communist countries we were fighting with. It is unConstitutional, and frankly demonstrates the fact that our nation uses faith as a political mechanism rather than as an actual expression of belief.

This really is God's country.

I'll be posting a home video soon to that effect, but for now, allow me to quote President George Washington in Farewell Orders to the Armies of the United States, Rock Hill near Princeton, November 2, 1783:

A contemplation of the complete attainment, at a period earlier than could be expected, of the objects for which we contended against so formidable a power, cannot but inspire us with astonishment and gratitude. The disadvantageous circumstances on our part under which the war was undertaken can never be forgotten. The singular interpositions of Providence in our feeble condition were such as could scarcely escape the attention of the most unobserving; while the unparalleled perseverance of the armies of the united States through almost every possible suffering and discouragement for the space of eight years was little short of a standing miracle.

I jis' love it when people show their ignorance of American History. The dollar says, "In God We Trust," not 'god bless America.' Christianity did not bring the Pilgrims to America. The Anglican Church was and is part of Christendom. The Puritans came because they did not recognize the Anglican Church and practiced a stern form of religion - one that would not be recognized even by most so-called "christian" churches today.

And, believe me, politicians would tax and tax as much as they could get by with, regardless. God is not a Congressman.

What are you talking about? The Bible says nothing about branches of government, checks and balances, or even voting. There's nothing "Christian" about these concepts. The closest the Bible gets to democracy is theocratic oligarchy, by bishops and elders. And the Bible does talk about taxes, both temple taxes and government taxes. (It says you should pay them.) And the only "freedom" the Bible espouses is "freedom from sin", immediately echoed by "slaves to Christ". (And how many Christians take that seriously?) In fact, American slavery was abolished due to the efforts of "Christians" defying Biblical teaching on the subject.

The phrase, "God bless America," does not appear in the Bible or on American money. Even if it did, note that it is a wish, not a statement of fact. We are asking God TO bless America (despite our natural tendency to mess things up?). We are NOT stating that we actually HAVE God's blessing.

Your theory is far-fetched, if I'm reading it right. True the founding fathers were all christian, but the majority were congregationalists in addition to being libertarians. If you want pray, fine. If you don't want to pray, fine. They also put into print the separation of church and state, which was intended to prevent the church from being victimized by politicians and the state. Well wonders never cease, how did they know that would happen 231 years later?

In short, it has nothing to do with being atheist or catholic or protestant. They knew what they were doing in the regard to the nature of men attempting to form and live in a nation that could accomodate people of different beliefs and backgrounds.

Omigod. American History, people...

America was founded, yes, by Christians, but Christians that wanted to escape religious persecution. The new religions popping up in Europe did not make happy the Pope or the Church of England. So they came here and eventually wrote the Constitution that states our country is founded upon Freedom of Religion. Even if that's no religion.

America's freedom has nothing to do with the damn Bible.

If it weren't for progressive thinkers, including those who risked their lives and reputations to defy church authority by looking for truth beyond what the Bible states, you'd be living in a world with people who think the Earth is flat and the center of the universe, physicians would still bleed you to "relieve the evil humors," and you'd drive a mule or chariot to work instead of a combustion engine-driven automobile.

I agree with God bless America....Have you looked at Denmark lately? They rejected God and everything is legal there but it's a society where they are so in the Dark because everything is permissible. Those that don't like it here....what about trying there and see what you think. God bless America!
