I'm a girl in my 20s and I wear a size 6. Is this average?

I've been trying to lose some weight because in high school i was a size 2. I was just wondering if I am overreacting to how much weight I've gained in the past 5 years.

A size 6 is my ideal size. I was a size 9 4 years ago when I was in high school, then I ballooned up to a size 13/14 ... I've lost the weight in the past 6 months or so and am down to a 7. I'm 21 and am 5'6.

You aren't in high school now, you are in the service, you are working out, you are muscle, you can't expect to be a tiny little thing like you once were. Also, by the way, they recently changed the sizing of clothing, so everyone is wearing a larger size then they used to wear. They do this every so often to totally drive women crazy, I don't know why. I worked in the garment center for awhile, glad I'm out of it, but never understood their methods.

Anyway, even if you were the same as you were in high school, with the changes in sizes you wouldn't be a 2, you would be a 4 or so, so, you are doing fine being a 6 right now, that's pretty small for someone in their 20's, believe me, you are still thin, I wouldn't worry. You are way below the national average. I doubt that you need a diet, don't drive yourself crazy.

The average american woman in 2000 was 5' 3.8" and 163 lbs (up from 153lbs ten years earlier)!

I think a size 6 is likely below average if you considered all females age 20-29. I would guess average to be an 8.

Nonetheless, size 6 is lovely! Size 2 is too small and possibly unrealistic for your body type.

You should consider your weight and height and hip to waist ration as opposed to your pants size.

You are beautiful!

In my 20's I was a size 3, in my 30's a size 5 and now that I am 40 I am a size 8. I've been trying to lose a few pounds and believe me it has not been easy.
I used to be able to sneeze and drop a couple pounds and now I have to actually work out and diet. EEWWW

It depends more on your height, weight, bone structure, body type, etc. Don't pay attention to size numbers on a tag...they vary from brand to brand anyway.

The bigger question is: Do you feel healthy? Do you eat healthy? ARE you healthy?

You should also remember that as we age, our metabolism slows down naturally, and sometimes we even become less active due to work, etc. Plus, women's bodies change naturally as we get older...our bodies become curvier (that's a GOOD thing!), etc. And just wait till you have kids! =P

Honestly, you sound like you're fine if you're only a size 6. Don't stress over it too much.

i'm heavy and solid muscles, well, except for my girlie attributes and as for what i weigh it's way more than you and i haven't ever been a size 2 nor seen that size in my family.
if you were solid muscle you also would weigh more even though you could still be a small size.
your health is more important than size, so are you happy ? healthy ?
if yes, you are doing something RIGHT ON SISTER !

I personally think size 6 is a perfect size. It's slim, but not skinny and looks good at any height. You shouldn't worry so much.

HTH : )
