I totally agree. Don't waste your life thinking about what other people think of you. Be happy with who you are, after all your an amazing individual ! Listen to what that person, who said that, has to say. They sound like someone I know and they got me through so much ! x

I agree, though we are a society that wants approval for everything from everyone, and it all comes down to how you feel about yourself, and what you do to help others, so, don't care what people think, and believe me the older you get the less you care, just do what makes you happy, try to be the best person inside you can be, and help others, and the rest will fall into place...but, don't worry what other's think, because usually anyone that has enough time to tell you something, unless it's someone close, and you need it telling, they have too much time on their hands and also, don't have any self-esteem and or morals...so believe in yourself, and do for yourself, and forget what other's think as long as you arn't hurting anyone...believe in yourself...and do for other's...it takes you a long way and you feel great about it..

I agree largely with that persons comment. As long as you are acting within morales and good intention -

Do what YOU -want- to do and do not denigrate yourself for possible mistakes, or for what other people may or may not think. Always accept yourself unconditionally with or without others acceptance, approval, love etc. Actively accept yourself in the face of strong opposition and hardship.

You may like to read the book "A Guide To Rational Living" by Albert Ellis - a superb book which discusses the very thing that you talk about to some degree.

Its true to a certain level but others opinions do matter and your feeling as to their opinions also matter. You should believe in yourself and if you think you are right and are not going to deliberately cause upset then go 4 it.

There are limits to that statement.. If it's your parents or spouse that might be too callous of a statement. What they mean is.. don't take others opinions of yourself as the gospel. Believe in yourself and follow your gut. People, myself included will interject their opinions...

In theory, it's a beautiful concept. Reality, on the other hand is different. We all, to some degree care what others think of us, especially those we love and respect.
