Crap! Just as I posted this answer, I noticed you said AIR pistol.
I thought you meant a real 1911 Colt!
You might enjoy reading what I said about the real gun below, anyway.
Oh man, is it ever. In fact, in the eyes of many, it's THE BEST.
It's only the most highly acclaimed and longest-lived automatic pistol ever design ever concieved of. There have been and are DOZENS of companies that have made and still make 1911 type guns. Perhaps the best testimony to the excellence of John Brownings most famous design, is the fact that Smith & Wesson has recently begun making 1911's themselves. Colts traditional competitor for over 100 years, has become the latest to add this long time Colt classic to it's own line of handguns.
Talk about "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em"! The 1911 is coming up on it's 100th birthday celebration. Call me in 100 years and tell me if Glock is still around. And those 100 year old 1911's? Still rock-solid and safe to fire after 100 years, and hell, STILL BEING MADE! I recently fired a 96 year old first year of production example. The only thing worn on it was the finish. It performed perfectly.
Can't beat 'em.
Pure and simple.

CO2 air pistols are high powered semi-automatic weapons that are powered by an internal compressed air gas cylinder. As they do not have to be manually cocked before each shot they are the ideal choice for skirmishing, practical pistol shooting, vermin and pest control or for those who simply have an itchy trigger finger! All CO2 guns in this section are produced under licence from Colt to the same exacting standards as their real-life counterparts, you can therefore be assured that you are buying an exact replica in both looks, quality, mechanical perfomance and weight. All Colt weapons fire at an average velocity of 300fps and can easily fire 2 rounds per second.
You do not need any licence to use or own a CO2 air pistol and with proper use they can be great fun to use, especially with a group of friends on private property. However, you do need to be aware that their misuse can get both you and those around you into an awful lot of trouble.
It is illegal to sell or hire an air gun to a person under the age of 17.

I wouldn't file anything down. Adjust the way you shoot. I have fixed sights on my 1911 .45. It shoots a little to the left so I aim a little to the right of the intended target. Over time you will learn to make the adjustment naturally. I don't even think about it anymore and I've won a couple of tournaments with my standard sights.
