yes you did. if you didn't do that, then things might have gotten worse. he could have hit you more and more brutally. you have amazing courage and i'm glad you did that!!

You did what you felt you had to do, if he hit you and used it as a way to get back at you for whatever reason then maybe it is time the relationship be over so you can move on with your life and find that someone who will treat you as you should be treated. It is ok to a certain extend to feel that way you do because of what happened but eventually you will have to get over it once things settle down to where you can move on with your life and realize things just did not work out.

Never ever permit someone you "love" to hit you. You definitely did the right thing. So many women (and even men) let themselves get into a routine where they allow this to happen, and it never turns out well, no matter how many times forgiveness is asked for.
You're better off without him. Don't even bother with the energy spent hating him. Just get on with your life, and be certain it never happens again. There are so many other nice guys out there. Really.

you did the complete right thing! good for you! but that hatred will go away...hopfully it will last long enoff to get over him, and hating him makes it sooo mucnh easier, but you have to be perpared to be strong when your not mad anymore...a man that hits you once WILL hit again, i dont know you, but im proud of you! way to stick up for yourself (=

First things first Protect yourself. DO NOT ALLOW HIM BACK INTO YOUR LIFE AGAIN. If he hit you once he will hit you again. Please do not fall for the I love him thing. Yes you may love him but will he protect you. I think not
