That's a trial and error thing. Woman are affected differently while pregnant by foods. Usually spicy or acidic foods triggers it. As the baby grows you will also experience heartburn from the pressure the baby is putting on you. You can try drinking a glass of Milk (if you can tolerate it at this stage) Call your doctor before taking any OTC medication.

I had heart burn for 9 months straight with both of my pregnancies. I would get heartburn from everything and nothing. For example, one day peanut butter and jelly would give me heart burn and the next day it wouldn't. There was no rhyme or reason. Tums work great, but you need to be careful of eating too many of them as kidney stones could develop from too much calcium. So be sure to drink plenty of water. Another suggestion is dried papya. You can get it in any health food store. It works, with no side effects, but you kind of need to nibble on it constantly. Good luck.

My doctor approved Pepcid AC after the 20th week, and it was a lifesaver! I couldn't pin heartburn to any particular food, but a lot of women have trouble with tomatoes, spicy foods, and gassy foods like beans and broccoli.
Also, a glass of milk would often help sooth the problem as well.

you can take tums *sometimes*, when it's really bad.
i find that onions and chocolate :( are two of my main triggers, also bell peppers, cucumbers, certain spices (haven't figured out which). also, if i eat a BIG meal i get heartburn worse. smaller more frequent meals helps. sometimes milk or plain bread/tortilla helps, sometimes not.
it's very individual, trial & error.
good luck & congrats!!
edit: that dill pickle thing below just might work-- vinegar is a main ingredient in those, and a teaspoon of vinegar is a natural remedy for heartburn (but it tastes SOOOO NASTY!!)

This is going to sound crazy, but I swear to God its true. Its a totally natural remedy. Eat a dill pickle. Really, just eat a dill pickle. My dad suffers with acid reflux, and his naturepath told him to eat a dill pickle. Ever since then, its been the cure for heartburn in our entire family. Works great! Whenever one of my friends has heartburn, I tell them to eat a dill pickle. They look at me weird, but once they try it, they are singing my praises. Being pregnant causes heartburn because of all the pressure on your digestive system. God bless you and your sweet angel on the way! Congrats!!!!
PS: when we dont have pickles, my hubby lays on his back with a pillow under his back. For some reason, it works for him.

I know this will sound weird but i promise it works, you can eat a lemon or you can eat watermelon right before you lay down for bed and it helps! With my heartburn anything will trigger it, even bread or not eating, so I couldn't tell you what is causeing your but I can suggest you not eat greasy or spicy foods. I hope that helps!

ewww i hate heartburn, i got it with all of my pregnancies! I carry a bottle of tums EVERYWHERE lol. They are a life saver. i take them as soon as i feel it coming on. Usually its caused my fast food, spicy food, BBQ sauce, pop. Things like that. Milk does help the heartburn. But try the tums. As soon as you feel it comming on, chew 3 of them. They are full of calcium as well :) GOODLUCK!!!

Milk helps - also try an over the counter pepcid - or some other acid reducing medicine. Fried foods and spicy foods will probably trigger it. You can also try not laying flat when you sleep - use several pillows to keep your head a little elevated, that might help.
