Using tomato puree (pure, no salt added), is a great alternative to salty condiments.

How about MRS DASH seasoning mix. It is low sodium and high in flavor. It would spice it up without adding salt.

BTW stay away from cheese - it is a major salt source.

Mrs. Dash makes great salt free seasonings, but there is one by Mcormick called Spicey salt free seasoning. I am on a low sodium diet, and use lots of it. I marinade burgers as well as shake it on them after they are cooked.

Portabello mushrooms are great grilled on burgers. I usually top them with tomato and hummus as well.
