I actually need to know how much is 8 oz of fettucine. I'm cooking for my boyfriend and I need to know if it's like 1 box, 2 boxes or whatever. And please do not leave any answers telling me to "use my head" because he'll be here in 2hrs and i obviously do not have the pasta box with me!

1/2 of a 16 oz box. Use your head for a minute. Any food product sold has the weight on it.

I agree with Slick Nick, that it's fine to make the whole box and have leftovers. But I remember in my early cooking days, it was confusing to figure out how much pasta to make. We figured out that for two people, if you held the spaghetti or fettucini in your hand, if your finger and thumb go around it and just touch, then that's plenty.
Use a lot of water to boil it, but keep an eye on it so it doesn't boil over. Keep the lid on until the water boils, put the pasta in, keep the lid off while it's boiling. The cooking time is usually on the package, but if you don't have the package, fettucini is usually about 10 minutes. Take one out to chew it and see if it's ready. Good luck. I hope he likes it ;-)

OK...

1 box is usually 1lb of pasta. 1lb can easly feed 4 people. (or 2 hungry men).

8 onces is a half pound. I would just make the full pound and save the rest to eat as leftovers. Its just easier that way and pasta is good even after its been reheated.

Good Luck

The weight is on the outside of the bag. 8 oz is = to one half pound. You can purchase an 8 oz bag of fettucini at the grocery store. Eliminates your doing the math! Have a nice dinner!

Pasta usually comes in 1lb. (16 oz.) packages. But, to be sure, look on the package.
