my man and i were best friends before we got together and his car had broken down. he would sneak at night and take his moms car just to bring me a musketeer bar. (that was cute:) hmmm ... when i was working 15 hour days at a restaurant he knew i would come home tired so he always had everything ready (food was cooking ... etc.) he just showed me his dedication instead of saying i love you 20 times a day.

Kindness and tolerance. I may not always be at my best but if my friend or partner is willing to put up with my bad days, I can be absolutely great on my good days..

Also, respect. I've left significant others that put me down. Relationships might teach me something once in a while, but they should never make me lose self esteem.

Communication is one of the biggest qualities there is. The little things do count. I bought my girlfriend a can of tuna on valentines day, ever since that day any time I want it I get it!

I think one of the ABSOLUTE best qualities is to be able to just talk to the person and not worry about those silent intervals. When you can find someone that you can talk to about anything, then you found your soul mate. Looks fade, money eventually gets spent so find someone that you can talk to.
